Zion Church of Kurten is a Elder Led Congregational Church. We are blessed with a fulltime Senior Pastor, two part-time pastors and a part time administrative assistant. We are excited to partner with the Evangelical Free Church of America who has a desire to build and multiply healthy churches among all peoples.
Senior Pastor- Kevin Boaz pastorkevinb@hughes.net 979-393-8389
Pastor Kevin joined Zion in May of 2009. He and his wife Rachel have 3 wonderful children Naomi, Johnathan, and a baby due this June! Kevin earned his Batchelor degree at Indiana University in Kinesiology which he used to teach Physical Education and coach basketbal for 5 years. During that time Kevin earned a master's certificate in Christian Leadership from Denver Seminary. Kevin then worked with Hoops of Hope Basketball Ministry as Missions, Kids Camps, and Prison Ministry Director. Kevin was called to Cornerstone Evangelical Free Church in Casper, Wyoming where he served as the Associate Pastor and was mentored by Pastor Jack Olsen. During that time Kevin completed his Master of Divinity Degree from Liberty Theological Seminary and was ordained by the EFCA.
Worship Pastor- Mark Bendiksen pastormarkb@hughes.net
Mark has been part of the Zion family since October of 2000, after spending ten years as the pianist of Grace Bible Church. A longtime resident of the Brazos Valley, he is currently working towards a degree in Biblical Studies from Moody Bible Institute and also works full-time as a software engineer for a local company. Mark and his wife Linda have been married for over eighteen years and have been blessed with four children: Davey, Kenny, Maria and Evan.
Youth Pastor- Joseph Dittfurth jrdittfurth@gmail.com
Joseph has led our youth group since the spring of 2008. In December 2009 Joseph married his wife Amber. Joseph is a Middle School Music/Band teacher during the week and a dynamic youth man as well. Joseph has a heart for our young adults and challenges them to live out thier faith every day!
Administrative Assistant- Shirley Kindt zionchurch@hughes.net
Shirley and her husband Jack are long time members of Zion Church. Shirley works from 8:30am- 12 Monday-Wednesday and Friday each week.
Board Of Elders- These are men selected by the congregation to lead the church, cast vision, shepherd, and guide the church according to the standards set forth in I Timothy and Titus.
Head Elder- Larry West Elders: Frank Metzer, Mel Sargeant, Jimmy Kurten, and Albert Rhodes
Council-Our Church council seeks to fullfill the role of a Deacon Board as lined out in the Scriptures. These men and women help guide the organization, budget, and day to day functions of the church.
